From untouched beaches, rugged coastlines to charming little villages… Mallorca has it all! It’s not only a popular destination for everyone who likes a relaxing holiday, but it’s also a wonderful place to explore many beautiful hidden gems. As we were so impressed by the beauty of this lovely island, we decided to create an article about the 6 best places to visit in Mallorca. So if you are planning a trip to Mallorca and wondering what to do? Be sure to add the following places on your list.
Valdemossa
Love at first sight! This cute picturesque village earns to be on number 1 of the best places to visit in Mallorca! Only a 20-minute drive from Palma, making it easy to get to and perfect as a day trip visit. Valldemossa is located in the beautiful Serra de Tramuntana mountain range, which is very popular among hikers and cyclists and above all a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
What we really loved about this village, are the narrow alleys with old stone houses and cute little flower pots hanging on the walls. A village where we see ourselves living our golden years… Best things to do? Strolling around, enjoying the views, having some lunch at one of the charming restaurants and last but not least local watching! We loved it!

Cap De Formentor
Dramatic and stunning, two words that perfectly describe the beauty of Cap de Formentor. We stayed at Cala d’Or and it took us less than 2 hours to reach it. The distance was about 110 kilometers, so better count a half-day trip to visit it. Cap de Formentor literally means ‘end of Formentor’, which is the name of the 20-kilometer peninsula. To get here, you first pass the village of Puerto Pollença, then you continue 18km along winding roads, hairpin bends, tunnels and cliffs (MA-2210) until you reach the lighthouse that’s on the tip of Cap de Formentor.
Along the road, be sure you make a stop at Es Colomer lookout. From the parking lot, you climb up the top where you will get rewarded with incredible sea views. This viewpoint is truly the best of the best!
Cala d’Or
Cala d’Or is our favorite place to enjoy the beautiful beaches in Mallorca! We stayed at Inturotel Cala Esmeralda which is an adults-only resort and located in front of the stunning Cala Esmeralda beach. Tip: have a drink at their beach bar ‘Sa Cala’ to have the best views of this beautiful beach.
Cala d’Or has 5 bays or also known as calas and are easily accessible by foot. Cala Gran is the largest and Cala Esmeralda by far the most beautiful. The beaches here have fine white sand and crystal clear waters. Next, to the beaches, you have the town which is super cozy, car-free and offers plenty of restaurants. There is a relaxed atmosphere and their Ibiza-style white houses make it even more beautiful. Also popular is the marina, where you find exclusive yachts and stylish restaurants to have a romantic dinner.

Palma
Palma, the capital of Mallorca which is also known as Palma de Mallorca, is a beautiful city with lots of shops and beautiful architecture. It’s perfect for an afternoon visit, but you could also spend a whole day strolling around without getting bored. There are a lot of cultural sights which you can visit, like the big cathedral of Santa Maria. Must-see when you are in Palma.
Parking tip: take the ‘Parc de la Mar’ parking lot, where you will get out in front of the big cathedral of Santa Maria.
Cala Ratjada
Cala Ratjada lies in the northern-east point of Mallorca and is around one hour driving from Cala d’Or. This beach town has a small harbor and some nice beaches. We parked for free in a public parking lot right in front of the beach of Son Moll. Son Moll Restaurant is a great place to start your walk on the cozy promenade that takes you to the harbor. But also a great spot for having lunch or some drinks is their lovely lounge bar.
Cala Figuera
Cala Figuera… So stunning, quiet and picturesque. A traditional fishing village where you can walk around the whole day, taking pictures and having a talk with the locals or fishermen. A real hidden gem and one of our favorite best places to visit in Mallorca!
Extra tip: getting around in Mallorca
- The best way to get around and explore all those beautiful places is by renting your own car. A soon as you arrive we picked up our car at the airport. Super easy and it saves you a lot of money instead of taking a taxi each time. Besides Mallorca has excellent roads with only two scary ones (Sa Calobra and Formentor), but the freedom you get when having your own car is priceless!
