Outram & Chinatown
The Outram neighborhood in Singapore is located in the central part of Singapore and home to the Chinatown area. It’s a great choice for backpackers and travelers searching for cheap accommodations but still want to be close to all the main attractions. (just a few minutes from the center with the subway) In the Outram neighborhood, you find the trendy Keong Saik Road, which is the perfect place to hang out around evening time in one of the coolest bars and restaurants that Singapore has to offer.
We stayed at Tiong Bahru, a more residential neighborhood close to Chinatown, where we booked a shared dorm room in Thad’s Boutique Hostel. We paid $27 per person/night incl breakfast and can highly recommend this place if you’re looking for an affordable and still trendy place to stay. You get your own bed, power socket, locker, privacy curtain, it’s super clean and located in a lovely area.
River Valley & Orchard
With its central location, River Valley is a great choice for everyone who likes to explore Singapore on foot. Within walking distance, you find plenty of beautiful gardens, shopping malls, world-class restaurants and top sights like Orchard Street, the lively Clarke Quay, and the Singapore River.
